Her own smile falters for just a moment at the remark, as she thinks about exactly what he might be seeing. Not that it's hard - it's obviously her powers. "That so?" She asks mildly, one finger tapping against her cup a couple times before falling still again. "Funny. No one else has ever noticed it before. But I guess you've got skills of your own, don't you?"

She's pretty sure he's got speed on his side. It's either that, or he's high as a kite, but though he's fidgety, he seems strangely focused at the same time. Taking another sip of her coffee, Raven shoots him another vaguely amused smile. "They're not bad. I can't listen to an entire album by the Doors, though. Not in one sitting, at least."

[whiplashing]

"Why not?" Wow, she knows music. And she's pretty. And she's different. The hand stops and he doesn't confirm or deny the fact that he has powers but he's pretty sure the silver hair bullshit he was born with is a good giveaway. "Doors are great. Too good. Can't handle their genius? It's okay. Not many people can. Jim Morrison said he was the lizard king. Maybe he's like us. Or maybe he's drunk? Does it matter? It's music. It's good music. He's going to be like 90 and still be making good music."

Grin. Nope, the grin is back. Whoops.

"What about food? You have to like food. What food?"

"That's it," she replies, tapping her cup again when he points out that they're too good. It's almost hard to follow the conversation with him going a mile a minute like that, but she manages well enough. "At least I can recognise my own failings." The remark is made idly, with a touch of wryness, and in another moment, her mask is back in place, firmly locked. "I think he's probably a combination of the two. Who says people like us can't be drunk every now and then?"

Welcome back, grin. She missed you.

"I'm sitting here in a diner, sipping the same cup of coffee I have been for the past hour," Raven replies, teasing just a little. "Who says I have to like food?" A beat. "I like comfort food."

[whiplashing]

"Comfort food is good but you're not sitting here to eat. You're sitting here to practice your face-melting. Moving. Shape shifting.

You should shape shift into a dinosaur." He sees no cooler thing, to be perfectly honest, and his hand is going a mile a minute, fingers tapping the table. "See? Lizard King. Jim Morrison--full circle."

"How do you know?" Raven asks, her smile growing a touch wider. She's more than a little impressed that he figured out her ability. That, or the mutant community is small enough that she's gained herself some sort of notoriety. Neither would surprise her, really, not with his previous references to the shapeshifting. There must be something about him that sees through it.

She's pretty sure it's that speed he's got going on. "Make sure you don't break something. Might be a little hard to explain to the waitress," she tells him simply, shrugging. "I don't think I'd look that good as a dinosaur, but I could probably do Jim Morrison."

"I just notice it." He wiggles his hands, though he has to remember to go slowly since not many people would even see it. He offers not a grin, but a smile. "I can see it, I mean. You're not bad I don't think, I mean, I can't do it. Would get rid of this." An errant tug on his hair and he's balancing himself on two legs in the chair.

"How come you don't just rob everywhere? I would." I do.

It would definitely be tough, having to remind yourself constantly to go slowly enough to be seen. The smile - instead of that usual grin - is different, and noted as a sort of change of pace; the conversation is moving away from the hypothetical and into the real, she thinks.

"Your hair's not that bad," she muses, "It could be worse." But she's all about accepting oneself. Easier said than done when she spends half her time looking like someone else entirely.

"And who says I don't? Maybe I've just gotten past petty theft, and I've moved onto bigger and better things."

[whiplashing]

That? That has his attention. Enough that he stops what he's doing altogether.

Enough that he's starting to stare.

"What bigger and better things?" Because this pretty girl, with her fake skin and fake face, could definitely have some fun, Peter thinks. Especially if they join forces.

That was something. She has a feeling that it isn't often that he stops completely, and yet, she managed to get him to do so. Not that she's honestly that surprised; she's got a sort of talent when it comes to getting attention.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" She teases, voice almost a purr. "I'll put it this way, it's not exactly hard to break into places when you've got my skills."
